Waste collection using lateral loading Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCV), already well established in Italy and Spain, is developing in other countries because it enables waste collection costs to be optimised and at the same time, for labour costs to be brought down.
In fact, a breakdown of the running costs for conventional RCV shows that the most expensive item is that of labour costs.
ü 30-40 % Equipment depreciation / maintenance / consumables
ü 60-70 % Labour costs
It only needs a single person (the driver) to handle a lateral loading RCV whereas a conventional rear loading RCV requires three persons (the driver and 2 garbage workers)..
Why manufacture a container of this capacity in injected PE?
If one looks back over recent history, it becomes evident that, as soon as the market volumes have justified the investment, injected PE containers have replaced the metal containers which were generally used.
The reasons for going from metal to injected PE are well known; injected PE products are of high quality and in particular, have good long term mechanical resistance.
